Fertility Health Check
Our comprehensive fertility assessments provide a thorough evaluation of your reproductive health. Conducted by our Fertility GP at a bulk-billed appointment, this process includes a range of tests and examinations to assess both male and female fertility factors. For women, we evaluate hormone levels, ovarian reserve, and reproductive anatomy. For men, we conduct semen analysis to assess sperm quality and quantity. These assessments help us identify any potential issues and develop a personalised treatment plan. Out of pocket costs apply to some testing.
Bulk-Billed Ovulation Tracking
At FertilitySA we offer three cycles of Ovulation Tracking bulk-billed, meaning no out of pocket cost for Medicare card holders.
Ovulation tracking involves a series of tests designed to identify your fertile window. This process includes regular ultrasounds to monitor follicle growth, blood tests to measure hormone levels, and sometimes urine tests to detect the luteinising hormone (LH) surge. By pinpointing the exact time of ovulation, we can help you time intercourse or fertility treatments for the highest chance of success.
Semen Analysis
Semen analysis is a crucial test for assessing male fertility. This non-invasive test evaluates various aspects of sperm health, including count, motility, and morphology. The results help us determine if there are any male factor fertility issues and guide us in recommending the most appropriate treatment options.
Hormone Level Testing
Hormone level testing involves blood tests to measure various reproductive hormones, including Anti-Müllerian Hormone (AMH), Follicle Stimulating Hormone (FSH), Luteinising Hormone (LH), and Estradiol. These tests provide valuable information about ovarian reserve, ovulatory function, and overall reproductive health, helping us tailor our treatment approach.
Genetic Carrier Screening
Genetic carrier screening is a sophisticated blood test that identifies if you or your partner carry genes for certain inherited disorders. This screening is recommended for couples planning a pregnancy, especially those with a family history of genetic disorders. The results allow for informed family planning decisions and can guide further treatment options if necessary.
Fertility Counselling
Our fertility counselling services provide emotional support and guidance throughout your fertility journey. Our experienced counsellors help you navigate the emotional aspects of fertility treatment, cope with stress, and make informed decisions about your care. This service is an integral part of our holistic approach to fertility treatment.
Nutrition and Lifestyle Advice
We offer personalised nutrition and lifestyle advice to optimise your fertility health. Our experts provide guidance on dietary choices, exercise, stress management, and other lifestyle factors that can impact fertility. This advice is tailored to your specific situation and complements your medical treatment plan.
Preimplantation Genetic Testing (PGT-A and PGT-M)
Preimplantation Genetic Testing is an advanced technique used in conjunction with IVF to test embryos for genetic abnormalities before they are transferred to the uterus. PGT-A screens for chromosomal abnormalities, while PGT-M tests for specific genetic mutations. This technology helps increase the chances of a successful pregnancy and reduces the risk of genetic disorders.
Time-Lapse Embryo Monitoring
Time-lapse embryo monitoring is a state-of-the-art technique that allows continuous observation of embryo development without disturbing the culture environment. This technology helps our embryologists select the most viable embryos for transfer, potentially improving IVF success rates.
Assisted Hatching
Assisted hatching is a laboratory technique where a small opening is created in the outer layer of the embryo before transfer. This procedure may help the embryo "hatch" and implant in the uterus, potentially improving the chances of pregnancy for some patients.
Egg Freezing
Egg freezing allows women to preserve their fertility potential for future use. This process involves ovarian stimulation, egg retrieval, and rapid freezing of the eggs using vitrification. Egg freezing is an option for women who wish to delay childbearing or those facing medical treatments that may affect their fertility.
Sperm Freezing
Sperm freezing is the process of freezing and storing sperm for future use. This service is valuable for men facing medical treatments that may affect their fertility or those wishing to preserve their fertility for other reasons. The frozen sperm can be used later in fertility treatments such as IUI or IVF.
Embryo Freezing
Embryo freezing is an option for couples undergoing IVF who have additional viable embryos that are not transferred in the current cycle. These embryos are frozen using advanced vitrification techniques and can be thawed and transferred in future cycles, increasing the overall efficiency of IVF treatment.
Egg Donation
Egg donation involves using eggs from a donor to achieve pregnancy. We offer both known donor programs and clinic-recruited anonymous donor programs. This option is suitable for women with premature ovarian failure, poor egg quality, or genetic concerns that prevent them from using their own eggs.
Sperm Donation
Our sperm donation program includes both known donors and clinic-recruited donors. This service is invaluable for single women, same-sex female couples, or couples dealing with severe male factor infertility. Donor sperm can be used in various fertility treatments, including IUI and IVF.
Laparoscopic Surgery
Laparoscopic surgery is a minimally invasive technique used to diagnose and treat various fertility issues. It can be used to remove endometriosis, treat blocked fallopian tubes, or address other pelvic abnormalities that may be impacting fertility.
Hysteroscopy
Hysteroscopy is a procedure that allows direct visualisation of the uterine cavity. It can be used to diagnose and treat issues such as uterine polyps, fibroids, or adhesions that may be affecting fertility or causing recurrent miscarriages.
Fibroid Removal
Fibroid removal surgery, also known as myomectomy, can be performed to remove fibroids while preserving the uterus. This procedure may be recommended when fibroids are impacting fertility or causing other symptoms.
Tubal Reversal Surgery
Tubal reversal surgery aims to restore fertility in women who have previously undergone tubal ligation. This microsurgical procedure reconnects the fallopian tubes, potentially allowing natural conception.
Testicular Sperm Extraction (TESE)
TESE is a surgical procedure used to retrieve sperm directly from the testicle in men with no sperm in their ejaculate. This technique can be used in conjunction with ICSI to achieve pregnancy in cases of severe male factor infertility.
In Vitro Fertilisation (IVF)
IVF is the most common form of assisted reproductive techniques where where eggs are fertilised with sperm outside the body. The process begins with ovarian stimulation, followed by egg retrieval and sperm collection. The eggs are then placed in a dish with the sperm and left to fertilise in our laboratory. The resulting embryos are cultured for 5-6 days in our time-lapse incubator before the best quality embryo is transferred to the uterus and any remaining are frozen for future use. IVF can overcome many barriers to natural conception and is suitable for a variety of fertility issues.
Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI)
ICSI is where a single sperm is injected directly into an egg. This technique is particularly beneficial for cases of male factor infertility or when previous IVF cycles have been unsuccessful. ICSI follows the same process as IVF, with the additional step of sperm injection into the egg to enable fertilisation.
Intrauterine Insemination (IUI)
IUI is a procedure where prepared sperm is placed directly into the uterus around the time of ovulation. This treatment is often recommended for couples with unexplained infertility, mild male factor infertility, or those using donor sperm. IUI is less invasive than IVF and can be a good first-line treatment for many couples.
Ovulation Induction
Ovulation induction uses medication to stimulate egg production in the ovaries. This treatment is often suitable for women with irregular or absent ovulation, such as those with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). The process is closely monitored through ultrasounds and blood tests to ensure optimal timing of conception attempts.
Specialised Treatments for PCOS and Endometriosis
We offer specialised treatments for conditions like PCOS and endometriosis that can affect fertility. For PCOS, treatments may include ovulation induction, lifestyle modifications, and sometimes surgical interventions. For endometriosis, we may recommend laparoscopic surgery to remove endometrial tissue, followed by fertility treatments as needed.
Recurrent Miscarriage Management
Our recurrent miscarriage management program involves a comprehensive evaluation to identify potential causes of repeated pregnancy loss. Based on the findings, we develop a personalised treatment plan which may include genetic testing, hormonal treatments, or specialised care during early pregnancy.
